Get Out: Restaurant Week, Sock Monkeys and Tomato Festival

See the activities happening in your neck of the woods this weekend.

Where/When: Friday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Village Art Workshop, 541 Massachusetts Ave., Acton. On Saturday and Sunday same time, different activity.

Why Go: To create "Funky Monkeys" from colorful socks, with stuffing and hand-made accessories. For kids 8 and older.

Pricing: $40. Add lunch from 12-1 p.m. for $5. 

Boston Restaurant Week

Where/When: Final week, Aug. 21-26. Make reservations. Restaurants offer prix-fixed menus for lunch and/or dinner.

Why Go: The perfect time to try a new restaurant with friends. Local restaurants include Aka Bistro in Lincoln, 80 Thoreau in Concord and 70 @ 3rd in Waltham.

Pricing: 2-course lunch $15.11, 3-course lunch $20.11, and 3-course dinner for $33.11. 

Acton-Boxborough Farmers Market

Where/When: Every Sunday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Windsor Avenue and Pearl Street, Acton

Why Go: The lineup of fresh produce and restaurant vendors, artisan wares, music and more. This Sunday the gypsy jazz band The New Boston Duo will be performing. 

Pricing: Free.

Great Meadows Morning Walk with Cherrie Corey

Where/When: Saturday, 9-11 a.m. Led by Cherrie Corey, local naturalist and photographer. Meet at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, 1 Monsen Road, Concord.

Why Go: Join local naturalist and photographer Cherrie Covey in exploring Great Meadows during the last phase of summer, which includes newly bloomed wildflowers.

Pricing: Suggested donation, $5.

Verrill Farm Corn & Tomato Festival

Where/When: Saturday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Verrill Farm, 11 Wheeler Road, Concord

Why Go: Taste Verrill Farm's 30 varieties tomatoes, eight varieties of corn and other farm stand dishes. Also enjoy hayrides as well as live music from Monadnock Blue Grass.

Pricing: $8.50 for adults. $4.50 for kids younger than 10.
