Kathleen Merrell New Director of Early Childhood Program
Merrell was appointed as new director of this model Wayland schools program.

The current director of the Norfolk Children’s School will take over as new director of The Children’s Way in Wayland starting on July 1, said Superintendent Paul Stein in a release.
Kathleen Merrell has more than 20 years of experience in early childhood education, working at the Meeting House School in Medway before the Norfolk Children’s School. She started her career as a lead teacher, and has been the director for the last ten years.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master’s in education from Lesley College. Merrell also pens a column called “Proactive Parenting” in the Medfield Press and Dedham Transcript.

According to Stein, Merrell is regarded as confident, approachable and knowledgable and that “she relates beautifully to students and is sparked by their interests and ideas. She has a strong work ethic, great communication skills, and the ability to see and understand other people’s points of view.”
