National Women's Curling Tournament Coming To Wayland
The U.S. Women's Curling Association will sponsor the four-day event, featuring teams from 28 clubs nationwide.
WAYLAND, MA — A curling club in Wayland is set to host a national event next week.
Broomstones Curling Club, the largest of seven dedicated curling facilities in New England, will host the National Women's Bonspiel from Feb. 19 through Feb. 22. The event, sponsored by the United States Women’s Curling Association, will feature women from 28 different curling clubs across the country.
Games will begin on Thursday and continue through Friday and Saturday. The competition will end with the finals on Sunday.

An Opening Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. Some special guests include Wayland Select Board Chair Carol Martin and Rep. Carmine Gentile. USWCA President Ann Kirkpatrick and Rich Collier, President of Broomstones Curling Club, are also expected to attend.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the event in person at the Broomstones Curling Club. For those unable to attend, the games can also be streamed online.

Curling, an Olympic sport, has seen growing interest across Massachusetts. It is recognized as a sport in which women and men can participate on equal terms.
The Broomstones Curling Club, at 1 Curling Ln, also plans to host an Olympic Open House later this season for individuals interested in trying the sport. Member of Team USA's doubles team, Korey Dropkin, grew up playing the game there, the club said.
