Wellesley resident and prominent attorney Lon F. Povich has been appointed by Governor Deval Patrick to serve on the MassBay Community College Board of Trustees.Β Mr. Povich attended his first Board meeting on April 29th.
Mr. Povich has served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at BJs Wholesale Club, Inc. for the past seven years.Β A member of the nine-person senior management team, Mr. Povich is the Chief Legal Officer of BJβs, a $12B retailer with 25,000 employees and 202 locations.Β Prior to his current role, Mr. Povich was Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel at the Boston Consulting Group,Β a global management consulting firm with more than 3,000 consultants in 63 offices, located in 38 countries.
In addition to his distinguished career in the private sector, Mr. Povich has held counsel positions in the Office of the Governor of Massachusetts under William Weld and in the United States Attorneyβs Office.Β In addition to his service to MassBay Community College, Mr. Povich is an active and involved member of various Boards and commissions, including the Statewide Task Force to Expand Legal Aid in Massachusetts, the Advisory Committee of the Business Litigation Section of the Massachusetts Superior Court, and he serves as Board Member and Treasurer at the Greater Boston Food Bank.

Mr. Povich earned his bachelorβs degreeΒ summa cum laudeΒ at Dartmouth College, where he also was a member of theΒ Phi Beta KappaΒ honors society.Β Β His J.D. is from Harvard University.
