I am writing to enthusiastically support Dovie King for Wayland's Select Board on election day on May 10.

Dovie has the skills, energy, and commitment to be a strong leader in our community. Her legal background and work in social justice are impressive, but it is her endless energy and commitment to public service that stand out to me. Watching her Chair Wayland's Human Rights, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is remarkable. There is no challenge too small or too big to handle, and all the feedback she receives is handled with respect, grace, and patience. Her dedication to a better future shines in all she does.

Dovie has worked at Harvard Law School and is currently a Pre-Law Advisor at Tufts University. Her background teaching labor and employment law, legal research and other courses have yielded enormous experience processing and breaking down complicated topics.

In addition, Dovie is the only woman in the race, the only parent with a student currently enrolled in our public schools and the only candidate involved in Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC). Because the decisions made in town government will directly impact her as a taxpayer, homeowner and mother to a current public school student, she is 100 percent invested in decision-making that will improves our lives. As an example, Dovie has taken the initiative to bring together the communities of Westford and Wayland for a diversity town hall to address racism and harms caused on our children. The event is on March 29 at the First Parish in Wayland and space is still available. You can register by emailing Dovie at dovieking@gmail.com. I think this event illustrates the type of leader Dovie will be if elected to the Select Board and the proactive approach she will take in problem-solving. We need to make sure Dovie has a voice at the table.

Finally, Dovie is a former bilingual Spanish-English public school teacher, community college adjunct professor and union member of the American Federation of Teachers. She is highly skilled in working with teachers, administrators, union members and people from all ages, cultures, religions and backgrounds. I believe she is the right person to bridge gaps that have historically caused divisions in Wayland. She will treat all people with respect and dignity.

I am convinced Dovie will make a strong Select board member, and I am excited to vote for her on May 10. I hope you will join me! To donate or volunteer for her campaign, please visit www.electdovie.com.
