Wayland Coronavirus Cases Trending Higher: State Data

WAYLAND, MA — Along with most towns and cities in Massachusetts, coronavirus cases are on the rise in Wayland.

On Thursday, the Department of Public Health reported 5,883 new coronavirus cases and 30 deaths statewide. The seven-day average number of hospitalized patients was 1,342.1, up from 1,099.4 the week prior. Over 1,400 people were hospitalized with the virus, as of Wednesday.

Vaccine levels are also continuing to rise. Although the state has tracked over 100,000 so-called breakthrough cases, vaccines are the best way to prevent severe COVID-19 illnesses, according to health officials. About 90.2 percent of Wayland residents are fully vaccinated, and over 95 percent have received at least one dose.

• Average daily new cases per 100,000 residents: 32.4 (trending higher)
• Share of positive cases over last two weeks: 2.82 percent (trending higher)
