Wayland Coronavirus Deaths Reach Double-Digits
The number of coronavirus deaths in Wayland doubled over the week ending May 8, and total cases stood at 86.
WAYLAND, MA — Ten Wayland residents have now died of complications of COVID-19, the town reported on Friday. That's double the number reported in the last update released on April 29.
The overall number of cases in the town also increased to 86 on Friday. Subtracting deaths and the 32 people who have recovered, there were 42 active coronavirus cases as of Friday. Two of those active 42 cases are in a hospital.
The town has also released new data on where the cases are located. Fifty-four of the total 86 cases are in people who either live or work in a Wayland long-term care facility, like a nursing home. Thirty-two are residents of Wayland only.
