Wayland, Developer Settle Town Center Development Agreement
The agreement would settle a matter dating back to 2006, when the Boston Post Road development was proposed.

WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland Select Board and the developer behind the mixed-use Wayland Town Center have tentatively agreed to settle a development agreement dating to 2006.
Under the agreement, Wayland will get eight parcels surrounding the Town Center development totaling 24 acres — a boost from previous versions of the agreement that called for the town to get about 10 acres.
But the town will also forgo a final gift payment from developer Twenty Wayland, LLC of about $620,000, according to the Select Board. The developer had agreed to pay Wayland about $3 million in gift funds, and about $2 million was already spent on items like the Mass Central Rail Trail path, traffic improvements and payments to the town's affordable housing trust fund.

The two sides had come to an agreement in 2018, but it was not finalized due to "title concerns," according to the Select Board.
Wayland Town Center grew out of a former Raytheon property located between 400 and 440 Boston Post Road. After about six years of design and planning work, the development broke ground in spring 2012.
