Boston Marathon: History by the Mile

Freelance journalist, photographer, and 23-time Marathon runner Paul Clerici takes us through
the colorful, 26.2-mile journey mile by mile, town by town, story by story from his new book.
We’ll hear about the very beginnings of the race in Ashland; the various start and finish lines; the
year a train cut through the race in Framingham; the Scream Tunnel of women at Wellesley
College; and much more. Paul’s unique and vast array of experiences and knowledge brings the
race to life in humorous and enlightening detail. Register through our Events menu. Monday,

Flooding of the Sudbury River
Join us for an informative panel discussion about the Sudbury River and the episodic flooding of
our wetlands, streets, and neighborhoods by this slow-flowing yet powerful river. Panelists are
Alison Field-Juma of OARS, a non-profit to benefit our local rivers; Brian Donahue, Associate
Professor of American Environmental Studies at Brandeis U.; and Tom Sciacca, longtime and
passionate advocate for the wetlands and waterways of Wayland. Co-sponsored by the Wayland

Great Presenters: Medical Simulation—The Present and Future of Medical Education
Over the last 20 years, medical simulation has become a standard component of medical training.
Using a wide array of resources, including technologically-advanced robots, medical
professionals can now learn and practice without risks to themselves or their patients. Explore
this exciting and innovative field with Wayland native Dr. Andrew Eyre, emergency physician at
Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Medical Director for the hospital’s STRATUS Center for
Medical Simulation. Register through our Events menu. Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m.
New Round of ESOL Discussion Groups
There are two groups, each meeting twice a month April-June, one on Tuesdays 1-2 p.m., the
other on Fridays 9-10 a.m. They are best for intermediate or advanced speakers and are limited
to 10 per group. Students will read a short story or article in class, then talk about it. It’s a great
way to improve your English and maybe make some new friends. Contact mwright@minlib.net

Cool New Things II
The OBD II scanner can inform you why your Check Engine light is on, tell if your car can pass
the emissions test, and provide a live data feed on how your car is running. Enchroma indoor
glasses are specifically designed to assist with all ranges of Deutan colorblindness. The Stud
Finder Sensor/Scanner (coming soon) detects not only wood wall studs, but metal pipes, rebar,
and live AC wiring as well.

NEW IN THE CHILDREN’S ROOM!
Come by the library and see the new shelving in the Children’s Room! We have moved the
collections around so let us know if you need help finding your favorite books. Kids can also
channel their inner chef in our Play Area with Food & Cooking toys. Stop in and check out some
books and materials today!
FOR BABIES, TODDLERS AND PRESCHOOLERS
Storytime with Ms. Carly
Join Ms. Carly in the library for storytime! Children and their caregivers will listen to stories,
sing songs, and perform fun rhymes and movements. We will meet in the Children’s Room. For
babies through preschool age children, with caregivers. Masks are encouraged for everyone
ages 2+. Please register. Tuesdays, March 29, April 5, April 12, April 19 and April 26 10:30 a.m.
Storytime with Ms. Pam
Join Ms. Pam in the library for stories, songs, puppets, and activities. We will meet in the
Children’s Room. For ages 2.5 to 5 years with an adult. Masks are encouraged for everyone

Storytime with Obie the Dog
Children will listen to dog stories and have a chance to visit with Obie, a beautiful Samoyed.
Obie will be accompanied by his owner Helen. We will meet in the Raytheon Room.
Attendance is limited. Masks are encouraged for everyone ages 2 +. Registration required.

FOR TEENS
Magic the Gathering
Teens! Play Magic the Gathering with your friends! Bring your own Magic Cards or use ours.
Experienced players and newbies welcome. For teens in grades 6 and up. This event will take
place in the Teen Loft. Please register for one or both! Friday, March 25.
