Wayland Health Board To Vote On Food Safety Policy Change
The board is looking at expanding the definition of what constitutes a "food establishment" in Wayland.

WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland Board of Health next week will vote on a proposal to expand food safety policy to include stores that sell prepackaged foods.
If approved, Wayland would expand the definition "food establishment" to include places like gas stations and conveniences stores that sell nonperishable goods — items like chips, candy, and beef jerky — but not prepared, temperature-controlled food.
The expanded definition would allow health inspectors to potentially look for health and safety issues, like signs of bug or animal infestation, and the cleanliness of public restrooms. Vending machines would not be included in the policy.
