Wayland High School Sports Scores: Sept. 5-11

Girls' volleyball (submitted by Head Coach Kristine Norrman)

Wayland dropped its home opener Tuesday, Sept. 6, against Concord-Carlisle 0-3. Scores were 25-21, 25-17 and 25-10.

"Although the girls lost, I have high hopes for them," Norrman said. "With only 2 returning varsity players and only one senior, the team showed marked improvement from their first day of practice only a week and a half ago.

"Setter Emily van Mulbregt ran the offense well and first year varsity player Alex van Rooyen showed impressive defense throughout the match."

On Thursday, Sept. 8, Wayland fell to Newton South High School by a score of 3-0, according to the maxpreps.com.

The girls will next take the court at Norton High School, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m.

Boys' golf (submitted by Head Coach TJ Anthoine)

In its first match of the season, the Wayland boys' golf team fell at home to Concord-Carlisle 89-96.

The team will be in action next at home Monday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. against Newton South High School and Westford Academy.

Football

Wayland fell to King Philip, 7-42, during an away game season opener on Friday, Sept. 9. The full story is .

The Warriors football team plays at home this Friday, Sept. 16, against Nauset Regional High School.

Soccer

The Wayland boys' and girls' soccer teams lost close season openers to Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. The final score for the girls: 0-1. The boys' final score: 1-2. .

Both teams will be in action again Tuesday, Sept. 13, against Boston Latin School. The girls will play at home and the boys will play away.
