Wayland Police Offer Citizen Police Academy
The police department will offer this eight-week program.

WAYLAND, MA—The Wayland Police Department will conduct a Citizen Police Academy beginning on Sept. 20, announced Chief Robert Irving this week.
This eight-week program is designed to teach interested Wayland residents about the various jobs that are performed by Wayland Police Officers in the community.
In addition to a tour of the Public Safety Building, participants will be exposed to topics such as; powers of arrest, O.U.I. enforcement, motor vehicle law, domestic violence, the court process, detective services and patrol procedures. There will also be a presentation on the history of the Wayland Police Department.
As part of the course each student will “ride-along” for part of a shift with a Wayland police officer. The course is designed to give interested citizens a better understanding of police operations in Wayland and the value of the investment made for public safety.
Space is limited for this course; applications are available at the Wayland Police Department or by calling the Citizen Police Academy Director, Detective Sergeant Jamie D. Berger, at 508-358-1722 or by email at jberger@wayland.ma.us.
All classes will be held in the training room at the Public Safety Building from 7-9pm.
