Wayland Public School Teachers Among Best Paid in State

The Boston Business Journal released its annual list based on the average teacher salary in each community.

WAYLAND, MA — Public school teachers in Wayland were some of the highest paid in Massachusetts in 2015.

Earlier this month, the Boston Business Journal released a full list of average annual salaries of public educators in 317 Massachusetts communities, based on data from the Department of Early and Secondary Education.

The Boston Business Journal found that public school teachers in Wayland were paid an average $89,900 in 2015, $15,000 more than the statewide average of $74,737. That's good enough for the 15th highest average salary in the state.

Being a teacher in Wayland is an increasingly lucrative career choice, according to the report. Just six years ago, the average salary for a teacher in Wayland was $79,091.

Average wages were determined by dividing each district's total salaries and stipends by the number of full-time teachers employed in 2015.
