Wayland Schools Awarded Innovation Career Pathways Grant

66 Local Education Agencies to receive money for student career support

Boston – Representative David Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that Wayland Public Schools have been named as a recipient of the FY24 Innovation Pathways Implementation and Support Grant by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE). This grant supports local education agencies (LEA) in the execution of their Innovation Career Pathways program implementation plan, provided they have achieved Innovation Career Pathway designation from DESE since 2018.

In total, DESE awarded grants to 66 local education agencies located in communities in every region of Massachusetts. Each LEA received this grant money to support the implementation of their Innovation Career Pathways program. The program is designed to allow students to participate in coursework and experience in a specific high-demand industry, such as information technology, engineering, healthcare, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing. The Pathways program creates strong partnerships with employers, allowing students to develop knowledge and skills relevant to their chosen field of study, as well as to gain exposure and guidance towards career and postsecondary education options.

“The Career Pathways program is a forward-thinking initiative that will have an invaluable positive impact on high school students’ career awareness and skills,” said Representative Linsky. “I want to thank The Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education for awarding Wayland schools with this generous contribution to the education of our children in the Fifth Middlesex District.”
