WAYLAND, MA — The last of Wayland's three flu vaccine clinics is coming up next week, and the town is reminding residents to sign up in advance. The town has hosted clinics on Sept. 29 for seniors and on Oct. 13. The third and final clinic is on Oct. 27. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, flu was typically the most dangerous seasonal ailment during colder months. Before flu season last year, health experts warned of a potential "twindemic," with hospitals overwhelmed by both flu and COVID-19 patients. However, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) found that the 2020-21 flu season was "unusually low." The CDC said coronavirus safety measures likely kept flu rates well below normal.
