Wayland Swimmer Earns Victories for Connecticut College

graduate Katie Karlson notched two event wins for Connecticut College Jan. 10 in the schools' annual meet in Naples, Fla., against Grinnell College.

New London, Conn., Patch reports that the Connecticut College men's and women's swimming and diving teams won a pair of "decisive victories" in the meet with the women's team triumphing 160-45 and the men's team winning with a score of 113-92.

According to William Tomasian, sports information director at Connecticut College, Karlson, a junior, helped her Camels to a meet victory with a winning time of 1:08.26 in 100-yard breaststroke. She also joined teammates Rachel Bohn, Julia Pielock and Erika Fernandes to earn a winning time of 1:53.26 in the 200-yard medley relay.

The Camel women are ranked No. 21 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of American (CSCAA) National Poll.

Both the men's and women's teams will next be in action Sunday, Jan. 15, at Southern Connecticut State University.
