Wayland-Weston Crew Teaches Rowing, Eats Pancakes, Raisies Money
The Wayland-Weston Crew team is raising money to purchase another boat.
On Sept. 24, rowers from the Wayland-Weston crew team headed to Cochituate Lake for a fundraising event that had people learning how to row and downing a breakfast of champions: Pancakes, of course.
According to Elizabeth Russell-Skehan, the goal of the event was to raise enough money for the team to purchase another boat. As of about a week after the event, Russell-Skehan said the team was about halfway to the amount needed to purchase another boat and only about half of the rowers had submitted their pledge forms.
Russell-Skehan said as part of the event, the rowers raced "a very impressive race" on the Ergathons, or rowing machines.
