Wayland's Coronavirus Death Toll Rises To 5

Since April 21, three more people in Wayland have died, and many more are sick.

WAYLAND, MA — The number people in Wayland who have either died or tested positive for coronavirus rose sharply over the last week to a total of 60, a rise of 12 compared to the town's last update on April 21.

Most notably, Wayland has seen three additional deaths since last Tuesday, bringing the total over the course of the pandemic to five. The town's first death, a man in his 60s, was reported April 3 during a Board of Health meeting.

There were 28 coronavirus cases active in Wayland as of Wednesday, plus one more presumed case that was diagnosed by a doctor. Since the beginning of the crisis in March, 60 people in town have tested positive, and six have been diagnosed by a doctor without a test.

Another 27 people have recovered from the virus, and five are being treated in a hospital, according to the Board of Health. Twenty-three people have the virus, but were not hospitalized as of Wednesday.
