Whiz Kids: Cole and Liam Burbage

These 14-year-old twin brothers have dominated their respective track and field events.

  • Names: Cole and Liam Burbage
  • Accomplishment: These twin brothers have both qualified to compete in the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics for New England states in New York in July. With winning performances there July 8-10, the twins could be headed to the national Junior Olympics Championships in Kansas later in July.
  • Cole's Key to Awesomeness: Cole captured first place in the high jump event at the Massachusetts Middle School Track and Field Championships June 11, and then went on to take the bronze medal (third place) with a 5 foot 4 inch jump at the USA Track and Field Association Junior Olympic Championships for the New England states on June 18.
  • Liam's Key to Awesomeness: Liam sprinted to a second place finish in the 400-meter event at the June 11 Massachusetts Middle School Track and Field Championships and then captured a silver medal (second place), along with three other boys from the Nitehawks Track team, running the first 400-meter leg of the 4 x 400 meter boy's youth relay in the June 18 USA Track and Field Association Junior Olympic Championships for the New England.
