2018 Senate Race Brings Elizabeth Warren Challenger To Wellesley

John Kingston a Winchester businessman wants to take on Elizabeth Warren in 2018 for Senate. And he's making the rounds in Wellesley.

WELLESLEY, MA — Businessman and philanthropist John Kingston, currently exploring a 2018 challenge to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, attended a meeting of the Wellesley Republican Town Committee Monday night to offer his vision for Senate and why he is best positioned to defeat incumbent Warren.

Kingston of Winchester had much criticism for Warren calling her an absentee senator, according his campaign. Kingston also pointed at political division in the country as one of the country's gravest threats and alluded to Warren as among the politicians who divide.

Kingston told the small group of folks gathered that in order to elect the kind of senator Massachusetts deserves Republicans have to build a winning coalition behind a strong message.

"I am a constitutional conservative with a conviction of American exceptionalism," Kingston said, adding that he wanted to return a Senate seat to the GOP.

Beth Lindstrom is considered Kingston's rival for moderate GOP voters - should he actually decide to run. She announced her decision to run in August. Although Kingston has not officially announced his bid, he has put up some $2 million of his own money, according to reports.
