Author Anthony Sammarco will visit Waterstone at Wellesley on Thursday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the origins of the Howard Johnson legacy. Howard Deering Johnson, born in Boston, was the founder of the Howard Johnson’s chain of restaurants and motels. Once the country’s largest restaurant chain, Johnson’s contributions to the restaurant industry include creating the concept of franchising. Sammarco, a historian, has authored 60 books on Boston, his native city. This event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is requested at 781-235-1614. Waterstone is located at 27 Washington St., and includes 134 apartments for seniors 62 and older. It features independent and assisted living rental apartments.
