Applications for 2015 Boston Marathon Available to Wellesley Runners and Charities

Applications are now being accepted from Wellesley residents who are committed to raising funds for a Wellesley charity, and think they can compete in the Boston Marathon

As a way of thanking the communities along the marathon route, the Boston Athletic Association (“BAA”) makes invitational entries available to those towns.

The 119th Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, April 20, 2015. The goal of the invitational entries is to allow these communities to raise funds for charities and good causes.

The year, the Board of Selectmen (“BOS”) will be accepting applications from individuals committing to raise funds for a specific Wellesley charitable organization, and charitable organizations that wish to receive funds through the invitational entries.

For individual applications, preference will be given to Wellesley residents that designate a specific charity that benefits Wellesley residents; for charitable organization applications, preference will be given to charities that benefit Wellesley residents.

The deadline is Oct. 25.
