Waterstone at Wellesley will welcome New York Times bestselling author B.A. Shapiro for a discussion of her 2015 novel “The Muralist” on Tuesday, May 24 at 3 p.m. A book signing will follow the presentation, with copies available for purchase. “The Muralist” tells the story of Alizée Benoit, a young American painter working for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) when she vanishes from New York City in 1940. No one, including her friends Eleanor Roosevelt, Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollack, or her Jewish family living in German-occupied France, knows what happened to her. But years later, her grand-niece Danielle Abrams, who works at Christie’s auction house, discovers a secret that may hold the answers to Alizée’s disappearance. Shapiro is the New York Times bestselling author of seven novels, including “The Art Forager,” “Blind Spot” and “Blameless,” as well as four screenplays and one nonfiction book, “The Big Squeeze.” She lives in Boston and is currently at work on her eighth novel. This event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is requested at 781-235-1614. Waterstone is located at 27 Washington St., and includes 134 apartments for seniors 62 and older. It features independent and assisted living rental apartments.
