The Forest Street Post Office on the Babson College campus is getting a new handi-capped accessible ramp, and remains open for its regular summer hours.
A crew from GD McCarthy of Needham is performing the work, said Mark McCarthy - an employee. The work should be done within a week, he said.
Meanwhile, the columns supporting the front facade have been removed while the ground in front of the building is excavated in preparation for the ramp. Though he expects to be done within seven days, he said, the building may have some surprises in store for them as they dig deeper and remove other elements of the facade.

For instance, he said, indicating a section of the building's front, below the door, which has recently been unearthed and is in need of repair - they may find other parts of the building that need work.
During the construction, Post Office patrons can still access the building, which is open for mail pick up during the summer, through the side entrance. A drop off mail box in the parking lot is also still available.
