Babson students team up with local nonprofit to host a wellness event for kids

WELLESLEY, Mass. - March 23, 2016 - Babson College students are teaming up with a local nonprofit, One for Health Foundation, to bring together children and the community for a celebration of health and wellness on Sunday, April 3 at Babson’s Webster Center in Wellesley, Mass.

Babson College’s Foundation Management and Entrepreneurial (FME) Service Program students, and One for Health Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will host children from the Wellesley schools, who participate in a program sponsored by Community Investors, and those from the Lowell and Watertown Boys & Girls Clubs for a fun wellness day.

An important focus of this event is how communities can come together to spread awareness and provide support in setting healthy lifestyles for their children. Babson’s FME students and One for Health Foundation share the belief that innovative and entrepreneurial thinking can spark awareness of the importance of wellness in a fun, meaningful way. Because of the thoughtful leadership of the Babson FME students, this event is not only a wellness celebration, but a synergistic community connector.

The day’s activities will include competitions in basketball, Frisbee tosses, and relay races, as well as One for Health Foundation’s yoga, nutrition, and mindfulness programs for children. Healthy snacks will be provided by Whole Foods, and a representative from Isagenix will provide nutritional energy bars and present a tutorial on how to make healthy shakes. Babson FME students will facilitate the day’s activities by acting as mentors.

One for Health Foundation’s mission is to help children adopt a healthy lifestyle by providing innovative wellness programs and workshops that equip them with the knowledge and skills to develop and retain healthy habits. By instilling in children the crucial importance of good health, both for their ability to live the highest quality lives and for this nation, One for Health Foundation envisions they will in turn transform the future wellness of America, both physically and economically.
