Bank Robbery In Wellesley Prompts Lockdown As Police Search For Suspect
Police said a local school was on lockdown after the Bank America on Washington Street was robbed. The investigation is ongoing.

An employee at Bank of America called 911 to report that a man had just robbed the bank at 35 Washington Street. There was no weapon shown, according to police.
The employee described the suspect as a man about 5'11 with a darker complexion, with a
muscular build, wearing a dark colored long sleeve shirt, sunglasses, a black baseball cap with a
white oval shaped logo on it.

The man reportedly ran out of the bank through the back door. Witnesses told police the man then got into a dark dark colored sedan on Ledyard Street, but couldn't say which direction he went.
As a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of the students officers asked that students at St.John’s Elementary School located nearby to remain inside the building until Wellesley and State Police K-9 officers finished checking the area.

Police said they finished the check before students were dismissed in the usual manner. No further information is being released at this time, and the robbery is still under investigation, according to police.
