Beleaguered Wellesley Square Picking Up Steam

The economic downturn of the last couple years …until now.

Boston.com reported yesterday that Wellesley’s Central Street shopping area is slowly but surely making a comeback.

, Lacrosse Unlimited and Gustare Oils have all filled vacancies in Wellesley Square, according to Boston.com.

The Wellesley Community Art Project, a local merchant-artist collaborative group involving several concerned citizens, has attempted to revitalize the square by .

Laura Fragasso, who volunteers with Wellesley Community Art Project, told Boston.com that the art has helped move the square toward progress.

“It’s really been a highlight during times of transition, everyone comes together,” she said.
