Child Hospitalized After Getting Hit By Car in Wellesley

The child sustained significant injuries.

WELLESLEY, MA — A child was hospitalized after getting hit by an SUV outside of the Schofield School Thursday afternoon. Police were called to the school around 4:30 p.m. for a report of a child struck in the driveway of the school.

Police said the driver of the black Acura SUV had driven through the parking area at the end of the driveway and began to loop around in an attempt to find a parking spot. At the same time an 8-year-old child had crossed over from a parking spot on the opposite side of the parking area. The child was struck by the SUV, which was traveling at a slow rate of speed.

The driver of the SUV stopped and immediately began administering medical aid to the child. The child suffered significant injuries and was transported to a hospital in Boston.

The people involved in the crash were at the Schofield School for non-school related events. The child is not a student at Schofield.

The crash is under investigation.
