Craig Mack for School Committee, WPS

Letter of support for Craig Mack by Joelle Reidy

(Craig Mack)

Dear neighbors,

Over the past several weeks, people have approached me from throughout town, asking me about my support for Craig Mack for School Committee. As his campaign manager, I have been working diligently behind the scenes, answering questions and encouraging people to meet with Craig and to decide for themselves. With less than two weeks left in this campaign, I felt that it was time to share why I believe Craig is the only candidate that can help Wellesley heal and move forward.
I am voting for Craig Mack because he gives me real HOPE. This is what we need right now - hope and healing. This community is hurting and we need thoughtful and meticulous leadership on the long walk towards post-pandemic, educational healing. We have yet to fully realize the impact of what our students have gone through over the last two years. Craig is not only a professional in the education space, but also a compassionate father and community member. He cares so deeply about education and supporting students that he brings to bear the much-needed empathy each individual student deserves; so much so that he is willing to work hard for all of us on School Committee. Make no mistake: this job is hard and the work is endless, but he is the kind of advocate whose honest and practical approach sets him apart.

My wish for my children is to learn global citizenry based in a well-rounded educational
system that fosters leadership and resilience. This is what Craig Mack advocates for; he
does not engage in making impulsive and false promises. Craig does not spread misinformation- higher school rankings do NOT mean better college admissions for students. Craig stands firmly with Parents Against Bullying- both verbal and physical. Craig is 100% in favor of academic excellence and the future of education for our youth. Academic excellence while practicing inclusivity of diversity with equity and the creation of belonging are not mutually exclusive. These are hard topics to address, and we cannot approach them lightly. Craig is authentic, kind and approaches every situation with his big heart and his open mind.

I have worked tirelessly with the schools since my oldest daughter started kindergarten ten years ago. Many of you know me as an advocate around school safety or an outspoken
town meeting member. I choose very carefully which candidates I support and, now more than ever, I know that I have chosen the right person. I wholeheartedly endorse Craig Mack for School Committee.
