Dana Hall School of Music Hosts Annual Halloween Open House

The Dana Hall School of Music will hold its annual Halloween Open House with Musical Trick-or-Treating on Sunday, October 26 from 2-4pm.

The Dana Hall School of Music will hold its fourth annual Halloween Open House with Musical Trick-or-Treating on Sunday, October 26 from 2-4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Families with children of all ages are invited to come in costume and experience this unique event. In addition to candy, children can participate in a musical scavenger hunt, finding a different instrument to explore behind each door including pianos, violas, drums and even an erhu (Chinese fiddle). There also will be a room for young children to participate in a seasonal sing-along with age appropriate instruments to play.

“This event is all about sharing music with our community,” said School of Music Director Jennifer Gaul. “Our music faculty and students are passionate about their instruments and love this unique opportunity to introduce them to families. For many of our visitors it is the first time they’ve seen and heard certain instruments. Children can learn the difference between a viola and a violin, experience the exciting sound of a guzheng (Chinese zither) or find out why a harpsichord doesn’t sound like a piano. And all in a fun and festive setting that breaks down barriers and invites everyone into the music experience.”
