Police pulled over a Nissan Altima around 7:09 p.m., on Saturday on Worcester Street near Route 128. Officers performed a records check and discovered the car was stolen out of Delaware, according to police. When police tried to make an arrest, the suspect drove away, dragging the officer 15 feet before he could break himself free. The officer was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Police identified the suspect as Theodore William Newton, 37, of Delaware. Police described Williams as black and roughly 5'9'' with a thin build. They said he had closely trimmed facial hair, brown eyes, and was wearing a black puffy jacket, dark colored jeans, and a black wool winter hat. Police put a warrant out for Newton's arrest on charges of assault and battery on a police officer with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, and several motor vehicle related charges.
