Dog Bites Delivery Driver, $29,000 Identity Theft: Wellesley PD

WELLESLEY, MA — The following is from the Wellesley police log. Arrests and summons don't imply conviction:

May 20

8:57 a.m. - A man working at a business on Grove Street told police his computer was hacked after he opened an email he thought was from a client. He hired an IT company to resolve the issue and notified the Attorney General's Office.

May 22

4:30 p.m. - A man told police he lost $29,000 to identity theft. Police said the man was checking his email and his account automatically logged out; he couldn't log back in. He then received a notification regarding a $29,000 charge on his credit card and then his cellular phone stopped working. The man called the credit card company and reported the fraudulent charge and requested a freeze on his other accounts in case of more fraudulent charges.

8:16 p.m. - A woman told police a dog bit her while she was delivering food to a house on Pond Road. She told officers the residents struggled to control their German Shepherd, which bit her right leg. She did not believe the skin was broken and did not wish to seek medical attention. Animal control was notified.

May 24

9:15 a.m. - Police were called to Wellesley High School after a student reported his beats headphones and Apple air buds were stolen from his locker. The student told officers the locker was secured and believed the lock was picked or the head[hone were taken while he was changing. There are no suspects at this time.

May 26

3:12 a.m. - Police and firefighters were called for a house fire on Linden Street. When arriving, police said they saw residents outside, and asked them if there was anyone still inside. A woman said her husband was still inside the house trying to put out heavy flames in a bedroom on the second floor. Police entered the house and got the man out. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation, while firefighters extinguished the flames.
