An Email Bomb Threat And Other Wellesley Police Logs
Police responded to an emailed bomb threat directed at the high school, and reports of package thefts last week.

WELLESLEY, MA — The following are excerpts from the Wellesley police log for July 10 to July 16, 2017. The log is public record and available for review. These are just some of the types of calls the Wellesley Police respond to. All are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.

Shattered: At 5:30 p.m. Officer DiCenso spoke with a female party in a parking lot to a business on Walnut Street about damage to her vehicle. Officer DiCenso observed that the glass in the passenger side window was shattered. It did not appear that any contents of the vehicle had been taken and the reporting party could not think of anyone who would have intentionally vandalized the vehicle.
The Internets: at 5:01 p.m. Officer Fritts spoke to a reporting party about information that was posted online. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.
Online scam: At 7:30 p.m. Officer Wall spoke with a female party about an online scam she had fallen victim to. She indicated she had met a male party through an online dating website and they communicated online for a period of months. She said he lived in Hong Kong and was planning on moving to Boston and provided her with an investment opportunity through his place of business. She stated that over a period of time she had provided him with $130,000 to invest and had been promised a great return on this investment. Eventually the male party indicated that he could not send her the money back and that he had been arrested and asked for bail money which she did not provide. She had been unable to get in contact with him since that time. Officer Wall advised her he would file a report and to contact her if she had any further contact with the male party.

Package theft: At 5:14 p.m. Officer Wall spoke with a male and female party from Chesterton Road who had a package delivered earlier in the day and the contents were removed from the package. They indicated that the package had contained a prescription eye solution. Officer Wall spoke with the neighbors who had not seen anything suspicious.

Bomb threat?: At 11:41 a.m. Officer Hughes was dispatched with several other officers to the Wellesley High School for a report of a bomb threat that had been received via email. The email was similar to ones that had been recently received by many other school departments throughout the state. Officers and members of the fire department and school employees checked the exterior and interior of the school and did not locate anything out of place.

Fake parking passes: At 11:04 a.m. Officer Knapp spoke with the Town of Wellesley parking clerk about possibly fraudulent parking passes. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.
Guns: At 11:45 a.m. Officer Joseph responded to a residence on Weston Road for a report of some firearms that were being improperly stored and the resident did not possess a firearms identification card. Two rifles were located and were removed from the residence and taken to the police station for safe keeping. Officers spoke with another family member who is properly licensed who will take possession of the firearms.
Identity theft is real: At 1:54 p.m. Officer Joseph spoke with a female party from Suffolk Road about a past identity theft. The reporting party stated she had been contacted by the Oakland, CA Police Department who had recovered a credit card belonging to her in someone else’s possession. They advised her to file a report with the Wellesley Police Department. The reporting party had closed the account last year and not suffered any financial loss. She has already contacted Experian and placed fraud alerts on her accounts.

Smashed: At 9:11 a.m. Officer Joseph was dispatched to a business on Central Street. The reporting party stated that when she arrived at work at 8 a.m. she noticed that a window had been smashed. Officer Joseph checked the window and noticed that the lower left corner was cracked, but did not break. With several businesses setting up for July Jubilation he advised her that it was likely an accident.
Bike theft: At 7:20 p.m. Officer Carrasquillo spoke with a female party who stated a bicycle was stolen from a bike rack on the Wellesley College campus sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on July 13th. He advised her to contact us if the bike was located. The female reporting party called back at 8:45 p.m. and indicated the bike had been returned to the bike rack.
