Film Series: The Bold and the Brave

Second of a two-week series of screenings and discussions of films depicting the human struggle against containment, hosted by FSU Professor Emeritus Dr. Arthur Nolletti Jr.  Free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Friends of the Wellesley Free Libraries and World of Wellesley.

Today: The Messenger (2009, rated R) 112 minutes. In this American film by Israeli director Oren Moverman, a U.S. Army officer who has just returned home from a tour in Iraq is assigned to the Army's Casualty Notification service.  Partnered with a fellow officer to bear the bad news to the loved ones of fallen soldiers, he faces the challenge of completing his mission while seeking to find comfort and healing on the home front.
