Founded by world-renowned griot percussionist Lamine Touré, Afro-pop band Group Saloum fuses Senegalese mbalax with elements of jazz, funk, reggae, and Afrobeat. Since Fall 2002, Lamine Touré has been serving as Artist-in-Residence at MIT, where he directs the Senegalese drumming ensemble Rambax. At Wellesley College, Lamine Touré will present a drumming workshop, open to all at 4:00 PM, then give an evening performance with Group Saloum.
