Lecture: Dr. Lois A. Brown on Pauline Hopkins

Pauline Elizabeth Hopkins (1859 –  1930) was a prominent African-American novelist, journalist, playwright, historian, and editor, considered a pioneer in her use of the romantic novel to explore social and racial themes. Dr. Lois A. Brown, Director of the Mt. Holyoke College Weissman Center for Leadership and the Liberal Arts from 2005-2009, will discuss her book Pauline Elizabeth Hopkins:  Black Daughter of the Revolution, which has been hailed as “the definitive Hopkins biography.”
