The music department at Wellesley College fosters an environment in which students combine serious musical study with the depth and richness of a traditional liberal arts curriculum. An important component of the music department, the Performance Program gives students the opportunity to take instrumental/vocal private instruction with faculty and prepare for professional careers in music. This concert will showcase eight women who have exhibited exceptional promise as performing musicians.

Boston Modern Orchestra Project

The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) is in residence at Wellesley College for the 2010-2011 academic year. BMOP is dedicated to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music. Throughout the year, musicians of this premier orchestra will interact with music department student performers, composers, and music historians, teaching master classes, coaching ensembles, and visiting classrooms. They will offer the College and the wider community three free public performances.
