Triple Helix Piano Trio and Wellesley Chamber Singers

The Triple Helix Piano Trio was formed in 1995 by three award-winning chamber musicians and soloists: Bayla Keyes, founding violinist of the award-winning Muir String Quartet; Rhonda Rider, founding cellist of the Lydian String Quartet; and pianist Lois Shapiro, winner of the New York Concert Artists Guild Award. Composer Yu-Hui Chang was awarded a commissioning grant from the Barlow Endowment to write a new work for piano trio and women's chamber choir with text by Wellesley faculty poet Frank Bidart. It will premiere at Wellesley College on April 16, 2011.  This lecture-recital will include a special advanced performance of the piece, and provide insight into the creative minds (performer, composer, and poet) that collaborated in bringing this new music to life.
