Former Olympian to Stop By Wellesley for Olympic Day

Rower Mary Mazzio will be in town Thursday for a meet-and-greet, followed by a fitness event organized by Boston Sports Club in Wellesley.

Wellesley, MA – Former Olympic rower Mary Mazzio will be in Wellesley Thursday in celebration of Olympic Day.

Mazzio, who competed in the 1992 Olympic Games and is now an award-winning documentary filmmaker, will honor the birth of the modern Olympics at a fitness and summer camp in Wellesley.

She will appear first at a public meet-and-greet from 12 to 1 p.m., followed by a private forum and physical fitness event exclusive to Boston Sports Club campers in Wellesley ages six to 12 years old.

Both events will take place at the Boston Sports Club in Wellesley at 140 Great Plain Ave.

"We are excited to take part in Olympic Day and inspire kids in our community," Programming Manager Nathan Del Llano Silva said in a press release. "BostonSports Clubs is proud to support the Olympic Movement and work closely with Olympic athlete Mary Mazzio to encourage children to lead healthy, active lives."

The Wellesley event is one of more than 2,000 taking place nationwide during the month of June, designed to engage youth and promote Olympic ideals, feature athlete appearances and give kids the opportunity to participate in family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences.
