ICYMI: Wellesley Girl Laughs So Hard She Swallows Boutonniere Pin
One might say she got the...point of the joke.
WELLESLEY, MA - Ah, boutonnieres - the bane of every prom couple's existence.
Us guys had it easy - just go out, buy the corsage (probably the day of) and slide it onto your date's wrist.
Boutonnieres, on the other hand, are the Rubik's cubes of prom devices.

One teenager found out just how tricky they can be when in the midst of trying to fasten one to her date, she swallowed one of the pins.
According to the Swellesley Report, Kathleen Garvey, a senior at Wellesley High School, had secured the pin in her mouth while she worked to pin the flower on her date, Colin Emerson. But when Emerson told a joke, Garvey reflexively laughed and inhaled it.

"Colin just stared at me and whispered 'Oh my god where did it go?!'" Garvey told the Swellesley Report. "I stared back terrified and started coughing. Our friends nearby heard, and in a matter of seconds everyone in the bus knew and was in between hysterical laughter and absolute panic. I had no idea what to do."
Garvey went on to enjoy her prom, despite security catching wind of the incident and insisting she go to the hospital.
She told the Swellesley Report that she called her mom and convinced her to let her stay, claiming there was no way she swallowed the pin.
But the next day she went to the hospital and, sure enough, the pin was sitting in her bronchial tubes. Doctors ultimately removed it without incident.
"To my friends’ disappointment I didn’t get to keep it," Garvey told the Swellesley Report.
