ICYMI: Wellesley Man Run Over By U-Haul, Medflighted

Wellesley police said a man was seriously injured Saturday morning after he was run over by a U-Haul truck on Lathrop Road.

The victim, who’s in his 60s, was transported by a medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital. His name was not released.

Police said he was loading the truck with a family member on a sloped driveway. They were unable to engage the emergency brake and began loading the truck, police said. The truck then began to roll forward. The man tried to get in the driver’s seat to hit the brakes, but he slipped and was run over, police said. The truck rolled across the street and hit a neighbor’s mailbox before coming to a rest.

The man suffered “significant” injuries to his lower limbs, police said.

The incident is under investigation.
