Khazei To Speak At Mass Bay Commencement Tonight

City Year Founder to offer advice to graduates

Alan Khazei, founder and CEO of Be The Change, Inc. and founder of City Year, will give the commencement address at tonight's graduation ceremonies at Mass Bay Community College.

The ceremonies will be held at the college's Wellesley Hills campus at 7 p.m. Seating for guests will be set up under a tent on a first-come, first served basis.

Khazei, a Brookline resident and candidate for US Senate in 2009-10, graduated from Harvard Law School in 1988 and founded City Year with his law school roomate. In 1990, he was appointed to the Corporation for National and Community Service by President George H.W. Bush. He led a coalition to save Americorps in 2003 that helped save the community service program. In 2007, Khazei launched the nonprofit Be The Change Inc., which creates national public awareness campaigns promoting citizen service, according to the Mass Bay Alumni Magazine.
