LINX Dance Students Enjoy Awards and Live Judging at the Diva Dance Competition

WELLESLEY, MA – February 16 - LINX Dance students of Wellesley took home 6 special judges’ awards, 17 title placements, and overall high scores for solos, duos, trios and small groups at the Diva Dance Competition February 11th and 12th, 2017 at Oxford High School, Oxford, MA. Students from 8 schools, age 5 to 18, competed.

The live judging structure provided a unique opportunity for dancers to experience feedback and constructive critiques immediately following each routine while still on the stage. “I am so happy that we were able to attend the Diva Dance Competition with its live judging. It was something new for both the dancers and parents, and I think everyone enjoyed it,” said LINX Dance Director Heather Emley.

The live judging was especially helpful for dancers who were performing more than one dance, as they could immediately apply feedback to subsequent routines during the competition weekend. Dance teachers found the feedback gave validation to their class instruction, and parents enjoyed hearing what the judges liked about their daughters’ performances. This was the first time participating for the 50 LINX Dance Team and Company students, age 8 to 16, and their second competition of the season. “I saw such growth on stage from the first competition to this second one, and I am very excited for the rest of the season,” said Emley.
