LINX Dance Studio of Wellesley Wins the Studio of Excellence Award and more at Turn It Up Dance Challenge in Bellingham, MA.

WELLESLEY, MA – April 5 - LINX Dancers of Wellesley faced strong, competitive dancers from 13 other dance schools at the Turn It Up Dance Challenge, March 17th – 19th in Bellingham, MA. LINX took home awards that included the Studio of Excellence Award, given to an outstanding dance studio that illustrates the values of the ADCC (Association of Dance Conventions & Competitions), including striving for excellence in studio atmosphere, opportunity, technique and training.

“Receiving the Studio of Excellence Award was one of my proudest moments. It is a huge honor and I want to send some big congratulations out to all the dancers, parents, and instructors for their hard work and support,” said LINX Dance Director Heather Emley on winning the award.

Dancers age 5 to 20 years old, from 14 dance schools, competed.

LINX dancers, ages 8 – 16, were challenged in solos, duos, trios, and small groups, winning 3 Special Judge Awards, a People’s Choice Award, and Titles in the Junior and Mini categories. LINX has competed at the Turn It Up Dance Challenge event at least 5 times.

“The girls were able to compete against well known, competitive studios, our toughest competition yet. It was their first competition this year where the solo title category was judged based on 3 components: their dance, their headshot, and their onstage introduction,” said Emley. Dancers competing in the title category were required to give an onstage introduction, which tested their public speaking ability. “The girls gave nice and personal speeches, which was great to see!”
