LINX Dancers Win Gold at The Starbound National Talent Competition

LINX Dancers of Wellesley win gold at The Starbound National Talent Competition in East Greenwich, RI March 2017

WELLESLEY, MA – March 15 - LINX Dancers of Wellesley took home most of the elite gold awards for solos, duos, trios, small groups and group dances at the Starbound National Talent Competition March 10th and 11th in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. LINX dancers, age 7 to 16 years old, performed 92 dances, winning awards that included 40 elite gold, 4 special judges, 1 audience choice, 5 overall first place finishes, 5 overall first place group dance, and other top ten placements. Additionally, a LINX Elite dancer earned the New York Dance Experience Summer Scholarship Award.

“We are very proud of the exceptional effort from all of the dancers. We are lucky to have remarkably supportive parents and fantastic staff members who help these dancers learn and get better every time they perform. Seeing them perform on stage is just a piece of the wonderful experience and growth for each individual dancer. The skills they are learning will benefit them in so many ways on stage and beyond,” said Joe Kahn, LINX Owner and Founder.

“There were lots of individual and team successes and I couldn’t be happier with our studio performances,” said LINX Dance Director Heather Emley on the studio’s third year competing in the event.

Dancers age 6 to 25 years old, from eleven dance schools, competed at the event.

LINX dancers were notably encouraged by the enthusiastic cheers of a full audience during their performances of Through the Looking Glass and Bollywood. The event marks the first mandatory competition of the season and the first time the group dances were performed for parents. For many of the dancers, it was their first time in a competition, and while many were nervous, they came off the stage excited for the next competition. “I think it was a great first competition and dancers are excited for their next competition in April,” said Emley.
