LINX’S Summer Martial Arts Classes Help Kids Stay Active While Advancing Skills, Self-Reliance and Integrity 

WELLESLEY, MA – May 29, 2014 – LINX Enrichment Club, 141 Linden St., Wellesley, MA is offering summer martial arts classes, featuring long-time teacher and expert, Todd Livingstone.

The summer classes provide an opportunity to stay active while building on skills acquired during the year, as well as more chances to participate in LINX’s Star Patch Program, where patches are earned for respect, hard work, dedication and friendship. Classes run from July through August for beginner and intermediate students (4 years - 5th grade) on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Additionally, LINX Camps’ “Freedom” campers who choose a martial arts activity will receive 1 hour of instruction from Livingstone.

Todd Livingstone, also known at LINX as “Mr. T.,” has an extensive martial arts background, with black belts in Kempo Karate and Jiu-Jitsu. He studied for 17 years under Master Nelson Chan in Wahlum Kung Fu. Livingstone, who is well into his 4th year inspiring kids at LINX, focuses on making the art form fun for all kids while advancing the skills of those who have a deep interest or passion. The 8-week classes are longer than most other classes in the area at 50 minutes, with a balance of games and forms. Martial arts beginners will develop unshakable confidence, focus and self-control, and will learn to protect themselves and be armed with the skills to succeed. Skills learned include punches, kicks and blocks. Intermediate students will learn skills including roundhouse instep kicks, crescent & reverse crescent kicks, chicken wrist strike, and much more. Mr. T. has a great dynamic with the kids and focuses on the history of the martial arts with visualization and reading of stories during the last 5 minutes of each class.
