Most Dangerous Time to Drive in Wellesley?

There were 73 motor vehicle accidents in Wellesley last month.

WELLESLEY, MA - It could be the early week blues taking their toll or simply a coincidence, but Tuesdays saw the most traffic accidents last month.

The Wellesley Police Department’s traffic crash stats reported 73 accidents in January, with 12 of the crashes resulting in injury. The number is down from the 90 accidents seen in January last year, police wrote in the report.

Sixteen of the crashes happened on Tuesdays followed by 12 on Wednesdays, according to the traffic stats.

The most dangerous time to be on the road appeared to be between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. According to the report there were eight accidents during this hour.

The stats showed 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. were tied for second place, with six crashes each.

Close to half of January’s car crashes took place on two-way, undivided streets. The majority of the accidents were rear-end incidents, according to the report.
