Musician Pays A Visit To Wellesley Free Library's Piano

Schwan plays 'One for Amelia' on her birthday.

Cynthia Schwan, 63, was enjoying her birhtday June 10 with a quick trip to the Wellesley Free Library to drop off some books and visit the Wakelin Room, where an old friend was waiting.

She walked up to the piano in the room, and addressed the instrument. "Hello, beautiful," she said. Schwan and the piano go back to 2006, when she performed her first ragtime concert in the Wakelin Room.

Editor's note: Check back soon to read more about Cynthia and her experience with ragtime music, as well as her e-mail correspondence with Max Morath, who is credited with a revival of Ragtime in the 1970s.
