Nick Martinelli Returns to LINX Camps as Head Basketball Coach

WELLESLEY, MA – February 16th – Nick Martinelli is no stranger to LINX sports camps, returning for summer 2018 as coordinator and head basketball coach at the Dana Hall campus in Wellesley.

Nick is a freshman girls’ basketball coach at Wellesley High School and teacher at Wellesley Middle School. He is a graduate of Worcester State University with a degree in history and education. Under Nick’s guidance last summer, LINX basketball campers found opportunities on the court to make a positive impact, and not just by scoring. Martinelli said kids understood “you didn’t have to score a lot of points to be a good basketball player.” As a result, they found themselves succeeding in defense, rebounding, communication, and teamwork, which improved their self-confidence. Genuine passion for the sport and teaching kids is evident in Nick’s ability to keep it fun at all times. The most serious basketball campers show up every day with a positive attitude and work hard, realizing it’s a game to be enjoyed.

“Any chance I get to work with kids is an excellent opportunity for me, and it’s why I became a teacher. It only adds to that joy of mine when it’s working with a game I love. I tell my friends all the time, ‘Playing basketball with kids all summer, what's not to love?’”

Nick looks forward to working with former NBA Champ Brian Scalabrine for some sessions again this year, as their personalities complement each other, and they share the same values as basketball mentors. In addition to Nick’s love of coaching basketball all summer, he looks forward to LINX’s traditional activities, which allow him to connect with campers outside of sports camp.
