OUI, Amazon Packages In The Woods: Wellesley Police Log

The following is from the Wellesley Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

February 27

4:40 a.m. - Officer Gerard was dispatched to Worcester Street near Emerson Road for a report of a motorist that had struck a deer. He observed the deer to be in distress after sustaining significant injuries from being struck by the vehicle. He euthanized the deer with his department issued firearm.

7:30 a.m. - Officer Gerard was dispatched to Worcester Street near Cedar Street for a deer that had been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival he observed that the its legs were severely broken and it was unable to stand. Traffic was stopped briefly on Worcester Street so Officer Gerard could safely euthanize the deer.

2:35 p.m. - Officer Joseph spoke to a resident on Longfellow Road about a theft. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.

3:20 p.m. - Officer Joseph spoke with a man at the police station regarding credit card fraud. The man stated he owns a business on Washington Street and on the previous day, he had received a call from an man who stated that he was from the health department and needed to conduct an inspection of his business. He indicated that there would be a $5 fee for the inspection and he could pay that fee in advance over the phone. The male party provided his credit card information and became concerned it was a scam shortly after. He checked his credit card activity and noticed three fraudulent charges on his account. Officer Joseph is investigating.

5:40 p.m. - Officer DeBernardi was dispatched to the area of Halsey Avenue and MacArthur Road for a report of some Amazon packages in a wooded area. Officer DeBernardi located the packages that had been opened and noticed one was addressed to a Wellesley Resident and one to a Needham resident. The contents of one of the packages was located along with the open packages. The contents of the package belonged to the Wellesley resident and she was unaware the package had been taken from her residence. The Needham resident indicated that he had not received his package and had contacted Amazon and cancelled the order. There are no suspects.

5:36 p.m. - Officer Griffin spoke with a woman who stated that her son had reported to her that a kid he attends tennis lessons with had made threatening statements in the class. Officer Griffin spoke with the tennis instructor who stated that the youth was singing a song in class that other kids were familiar with and he was not being threatening in any way.

February 28

3:12 p.m. - Officer Hughes was dispatched to a residence on Weston Road for a report of packages that were dropped off at approximately 1:45 p.m. and were stolen. The reporting party stated he received an email at 2 p.m. indicating the packages had been delivered and he looked for the packages and could not locate them. There are no suspects.

4:33 p.m. - Officer DeBernardi spoke with a woman at the police station who stated that she received a call from an unknown man who indicated he was calling from Apple’s security team. He said that she had a security risk and if she allowed him to remotely access her computer through a web application he could fix the security risk. He then advised her that she needed to verify her account by purchasing iTunes gift cards and GooglePlay cards. She purchased $7,900 worth of these cards and scanned the card information into her computer as well as her credit card information and identification. Officer DeBernardi provided her with an identity theft information pamphlet and advised her to contact the credit bureaus to report the issue. He is investigating the matter.

March 2

3:41 p.m. - Officer Shore spoke with a resident at the police station regarding harassment. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.

March 3

4:50 a.m. - Officer D’Innocenzo was on patrol when he observed a Ford Explorer traveling westbound on Worcester Street. He observed that the vehicle had difficulty maintaining a lane of travel, veering into the breakdown lane and the other lane of travel. The vehicle also traveled at speeds between 55 and 35 mph. He stopped the vehicle on Worcester Street near Westminster Circle. Officer D’Innocenzo spoke with the operator of the vehicle, identified as 38-year-old Stephanie Larosee of Westborough, and detected a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. While speaking with her he observed that her eyes were glassy and bloodshot as well and she admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening. She took and failed a field sobriety test. She was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on personal recognizance.

9:32 p.m. - Officer Hughes was dispatched to Grove Street in Needham to meet with Needham officers regarding a resident from Wellesley chasing some juveniles who had reportedly vandalized his property. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.
